It is difficult to name a flowering plant that looks more
modest than this little annual gentian. Its wiry stems are only
some 5-10 cm tall, opposite leaves are reduced to tiny inconspicuous scales,
minute yellowish flowers look more like flower buds, each only about 5 mm long.
The plant was found on the edge of a moist meadow at a power-line opening.
