The modest flower is completely lacking petals and is pollinated by small flies emerging in spring in search of dead animals. Therefore, the flower has the color of decomposing flesh. It opens secretively under the litter or even partially berried in soil. To observe it, one has to dig the plant out from forest leftovers.
