Crenate leaves are characteristically drooping on both
sides of the midrib, so the plant looks a little bit like a scarecrow. The name
"boneset" though has nothing to do with a set of bones. It originates
from historic medicinal applications of the plant, which was once believed to
cure 'the break-bone fever' in the American South.
