Beaked spike-rush can be mixed with saltmarsh-forming grasses, such as salt hay ( Spartina patens ) and saltmarsh spike-grass ( Distichlis spicata ). In that case it becomes even harder to notice. In this photo, autumn orange color is added by beaked spike-rush, while grasses are still green.
