Indian cucumber-root is a look-alike plant for a rather rare orchid, large whorled pogonia ( Isotria verticillata ). Curiously, both are nearly always found growing together in rich, moist deciduous forest. Without flowers they can be confused. In this photo, the orchid is at the right.
