Each sporangium is sitting in the axil of a sporophyll (that is, leaf
holding sporangium with spores). No separate strobiles are
formed--there are just sterile and fertile areas on the stem. Leaves
holding gemmas (vegetative propagules) are called gemmiphores. In this
species, gemmiphores form a
single whorl near the apex.
