Charles River. There is a small flowering clump on the opposite bank of the Charles and yet another one on the promontory in the distance on the right. Swamp mallow is native in eastern Massachusetts (and not known from western MA). It inhabits marshes along low river banks as well as coastal saline marshes. It also grows around ponds.
