May 9,
Harold Parker State Forest,, North Andover
This plantation seems to be well protected under the rule
of law from any damage, except the damage inflicted
by the state itself. The red pine plantations have become a
target for clearcuts, being deemed an alien element in the state
forests. Yes, in eastern Massachusetts this tree is
non-native; however, it does not harm the forest in any way and is bound
to give way to native trees without any human intervention.
