Black Pond Conservation Area, Norwell
Moneywort is a creeping evergreen plant with round opposite
leaves and showy yellow flowers. It was introduced from Europe as a groundcover,
naturalized, and has already made it on the list of Massachusetts invasives.
Moneywort normally does not produce viable seed, spreading mostly by
vegetative growth. Each population usually consists of a single clone. This one was growing
along the road at the Conservation Area entrance.
