Pilewort, or spring buttercup, is unusual in a few different ways. It propagates itself vegetatively via such tuberous roots and sometimes also by axillary stem bulbils. In the New World vegetative mode appears to be its only mode of expansion, but even back in Europe it is not very particular about seed production.
