New England blazing star
The heads are arranged in a spike or cylindric
panicle. Blazing star grows in dry woods and at wood openings. Its narrow
pubescent leaves tell us this is a plant of dry habitats. In Myles Standish this
rare plant has found refuge on mowed roadsides.
