Eupatorium purpureum (L.) E.E.Lamont var. purpureum4 of 13
August 5, Stony Brook Reservation, Boston
sweet Joe-Pye-weed
This plant has creamy-white flower buds that open to pale pink--and this is normal for the species, which, strangely enough,
was called purpureum by Linnaeus. Some of them can go as far as pale lilac.
