saltmarsh spikerush, beaked spikerush
Achenes are shiny, trigonous (three-sided), each with stiff bristles
and a relatively tall and narrow tubercle confluent with the summit of
the achene. It is the shape of the tubercle that has become a critical
diagnostic character in spike-rushes.
