Differently from Genista , flowers are axilliary, scattered along angled branches.
Scotch broom has been classified as a noxious weed and/or invasive species in
Australia, New Zealand, India, and parts of North American
West Coast (California, Oregon, Washington,
and British Columbia since 1920s); it is also deemed invasive in
parts of East Coast. In New England so far it has not been
inflicting as much damage as on the Pacific Coast.
