An American tree with a limited native range in Oklahoma, Texas, and Arkansas, belonging to a monotypic (single-species) genus endemic to North America (not occurring naturally anywhere else in the world). Fruit--syncarp, yellow-green to green, spherical, surface irregular, bumpy; exuding milky sap when broken.
