As an exception, we are including
in this gallery a reference to a cultivated
plant. This species constitutes an artificial cross
between the American black chokeberry
( Aronia melanocarpa ) and the European
mountain ash ( Sorbus aucuparia ). It was produced on the
brink of the XIX and XX century by the
Russian hybridizer Ivan Michurin, then adopted all across
Russia and by many European
countries, from where it was brought "back" to North
America.
