Taxonomy in this view largely follows the Massachusetts County Checklist (2011, First Revision). Alternative view is available for those preferring taxonomic treatments of the Massachusetts County Checklist 1999. The current view is still at the draft stage, so some discrepancies between the two views may occur. Data on distribution by county are taken from the Checklist. Treatment of taxa at the lower level and common names may differ. Mobile device owners may use either of the two page versions: [compacted] or [expanded].

Links to images in this view are provided for individual species or infraspecific taxa. This view supports classification trees with undefined deepness at levels lower than the family, which allows for introducing supplemental taxonomic ranks (such as tribe, subgenus, or section) wherever they are needed. However, as the classification file is based on the Massachusetts County Checklist, the tree deepness is currently fixed, except for some few groups, such as grasses, sedges or willows, which we prefer to divide due to the large amount of photographs. Artificial groupings introduced for the convenience, such as "non-native (invasive) reeds," are shown in gray.
